WyldeIA worked with NOMA Architects to develop a full Cat A refurbishment and extension of Woodrow House in Gloucestershire on behalf of owners and occupiers BSAVA (British Small Animal Veterinary Association). The new facility extended the space by a third and provided BSAVA with the spaces for their members to meet, train and learn including Laboratory and office spaces.

Wylde IA worked closely with BSAVA stakeholders and employees through workshops and observation studies to develop a design scheme that transformed both the training provision for members and the working environment for staff and visitors.

The extension of the existing building allowed for a revitalised and welcoming reception area, complete with bespoke reception desk and small animal-themed artwork which was designed in-house at Wylde IA.

The new reception area leads BSAVA members into in a large cafe space, flooded with natural light with floor to ceiling glazing and a continuation of the small animal artwork glazing manifestations. The space provides training delegates with soft seating, high tables & stools and cafe style seating areas to relax, eat and mingle with their peers during their training and educational courses at the headquarters.

A modern teaching laboratory  for education with state-of-the-art recording equipment to webinar to a remote audience.

A large lecture/seminar room provides comfortable seating and workstations for focused learning with intelligent lighting systems and acoustic solutions.

The open plan office feels spacious with a carefully considered layout to aid productivity with space for quiet focused work and areas to break out and collaborate. Meeting rooms are fitted with technology to allow video conferencing and large presentation screens. Two adjoining meeting rooms are divided by a flexible partition to create a large boardroom when required.

The staff break-out area and tea-point is bright and cheerful, with an abundance of natural light biophilic artwork and screen prints which provide a relaxing space for colleagues to make a hot drink, take a break and enjoy lunch together. During the warmer months one of the most popular staff areas is the brand new roof terrace which can be accessed directly from the staff break-out room.

This project has introduced significant changes in the way the BSAVA works; maximising interaction and collaboration.
