Project: Prologis
Location: West Midlands, UK
Prologis is the largest provider of industrial real estate in Europe and appointed WyldeIA, workplace consultants to design their new project at Blythe Valley Business Park located south of Birmingham. The building has two floors; a corporate client-facing ground floor and a more relaxed first floor for the internal team. We designed a comprehensive scheme for both floors that created appropriate environments for guests and employees alike.
Clients entering the ground floor reception area are welcomed into an inviting yet corporate space overlooking the café and lounge.
One of the client’s requirements was to create an open plan area that external clients could navigate without assistance. This was carefully considered when designing a layout that has an intuitive flow allowing visitors to use the space independently.
We created a fresh and light design scheme for the ground floor café with a Scandi variation on the existing brand identity.
Walnut cladding provides direction within the space leading the user down towards the meeting rooms. Each meeting room is themed to create a different aesthetic in each space. The video conference room and boardrooms are traditionally smart but kept modern with some dynamic zigzag lighting and acoustic elements.
On the first floor the design scheme is bright and more relaxed with an open plan office area with print stations and meeting rooms spread across both ends of the space. The work desks are located close to glazing to get the benefits of the natural light with a more flexible working area in the middle of the space that included soft seating options, height adjustable tables and quiet booths.
The workforce is split into separate areas as naturally as possible with no physical barrier between stations, only different design aesthetics. We continued the walnut elements throughout and introduced the zigzag lighting along with acoustic treatments on the ceiling. The upstairs café feels bright with opportunities for informal meetings.
On the first floor the internal meeting rooms ‘celebrated local’ and were themed with local branding such as Jaguar, HP Sauce, Cadbury and many other West Midlands’ successes.
These spaces are fun, creative and celebrate the brands that made Birmingham great.
